Postion: Offensive Coordinator
While the Bears’ defense enjoyed most of the acclaim in ’85, the Chicago offense quietly put together impressive numbers leading the NFL in rushing (2,761), rushing TDs (27) and average time of possession (34:33)…Hughes was one of Ditka’s first hirings, joining the Bears in 1982 after serving as an offensive assistant for the Philadelphia Eagles. Ditka was familiar with Hughes’ ability after coaching together at Dallas from 1973-1976. In those years, the Cowboys made the playoffs three times including a Super Bowl trip.
